This Friday, August 13th, we celebrate the 5 Year Anniversary of Pop the Cap, the legislative push that raised the alcohol limit available in the state of North Carolina and quite probably served as the catalyst for North Carolina’s explosive growth in craft beer. What can you do to celebrate?

Go grab a bottle of Foothills Baltic Porter. Foothills Brewing and Sam’s Quik Shop will celebrate the Pop the Cap Anniversary with the simultaneous release of a very special brew. On Friday August 13 at 4:00 pm, Foothills will bring back Baltic Porter for sale in 22oz bottles. They will have 720 bottles for sale at Foothills on Friday; they will resume sales on Saturday, August 14 at 11:00 am with all remaining bottles. There will be a limit of 6 bottles of Friday; the limit for Saturday is yet to be determined. Bottles are $15 each.

Get yourself on Fullsteam’s Wall of Awesome. Fullsteam Brewery, Durham’s newest Brewery, opens their taproom this Friday. Fitting, considering that the founder of Fullsteam also happens to be the mastermind behind Pop the Cap. As an extra special treat, join Fullsteam for a pre-opening party by donating to the Wall of Awesome for complementary half-pint servings of all five Fullsteam beers, a catered buffet by Carrboro’s Neal’s Deli, cake by Crumb, and music by Jason Harrod.
Go celebrate at Greensboro’s Summertime Brews Festival This Saturday, from 4 PM to 8 PM at the Greensboro Coliseum Special Event Center you can sample a lineup of over 600 beers in one of the best beer festivals in the Triad, and one of the only indoor festivals you’ll come across in the state. General admission tickets are $30 in advance, $35 at the door.
