Where to start? How can you possibly miss a beer festival that features Kansas!?

This weekend, head over to Clemmons, NC for the Great North Carolina Beer Festival.
The Festival will feature unlimited tasting of microbrews and craft beers from across the state of North Carolina and the nation. Some of the local breweries attending include Foothills Brewery, Highland Brewery, Natty Greene’s Brewing Co. and Olde Hickory Brewery. Foothills will also be providing specialty beers in the VIP tent. There will be live music the whole day with a major headlining act Kansas along with several other local acts, including Big Daddy Love, Part Time Party Time Band and The Plaids.
Three charities will benefit from the Festival including Second Harvest Food Bank, Forsyth County Humane Society and Special Olympics of Forsyth County. There will be an 8Ball Express pool tournament for the chance to play against champion Shannon Daulton. Second Harvest Food Bank will run a golf putting contest where they will receive all the proceeds. Forsyth County Humane Society will sponsor the basketball free throw contest where they too will receive all of the proceeds. Each of these charities will receive a large portion of profits after the Festival. Cornhole will be free of charge for other attendees to enjoy throughout the day. Food vendors will serve a wide variety of foods all day. The arts and crafts section will feature a range of products that can be purchased.
Get your tickets now at their website – only $25, $30 on the day of the fest. $50 gets you a VIP pass which includes a t-shirt, catered food, special beer, and a hospitality area with your own restrooms.
See you there!

I’ll be there representing the Winston-Salem WortHawgs Homebrew Club (http://www.worthawgs.org) with my Amarillo Pale Ale! We’ve got 3 tents and over 17 kegs of beer to give away!
Can’t wait for this festival!

Somewhat disaapointed at this event. The music was great, but this was not an opportunity to sample an array of micro brewerys, but instead this was pimarily folks trying to drink as much as possible. There was not much orginzation inside the event and some of the brewers were running out of beer.
I hate to complain, but I was not impressed and I won’t be back.

This was the worst un-organized event I have been to in many years. I bought 2 VIP tickets. They claimed there would be an air conditioned tent with free food and beer. In reality there was a tent with literally hundreds in it with NO AIR CONDITIONING and only sample beer inside like outside. The food ran out because everyone was eating whether they had a VIP Meal Ticket of not. The tickets were not collected so people were passing them around just in case someone asked for a ticket. They also, stated there would be VIP bathrooms. That was a joke. They ahd 4 porta potties for 1000′s of VIPS. The wait was at least 30 minutes in the hot sun. I feel really ripped off because I paid for services I did not receive. The advertising was false and misleading. I will never go back to this event and I have charged back the tickets with my credit card company. One good note: Kansas was great as usual. If not for them, it would have been a complete failure. The truth is the truth.

I too bought a vip ticket and did not feel that I got my money’s worth. The idea of the fest was great, music and beer, but it was just too unorganized. I’ve been to Oktoberfest in Germany and when I bought the tickets to the great nc beer festival I hoped to get the same great feeling as I did at the Oktoberfest, but unfortunately I didn’t. The acts where good though, loved Kansas.
Just my five cents

Hi Heidi,
I believe many people shared your feelings about last year’s festival. The good news is that the 2011 Carolina Oktoberfest at Tanglewood host is not the same as the one that ran it last year. This is a very experienced festival host that has been running the NC wine festival at Tanglewood for 11 years now. The bands they have lined up look awesome and participating craft breweries are being added to the list every week.
