Raleigh, NC–The North Carolina Brewers Guild is pleased to announce the hiring of Anna Lockhart, former Associate Director of the North Carolina Beer & Wine Wholesalers Association, as their new Executive Director.
Lockhart has extensive experience operating non-profits, overseeing major event planning, member services & programs, budget development & management, and actively taking part in legislative strategy and advocacy. She has been in her most recent position with NCBWWA for the past five years. During that time she improved membership services while developing an affiliate partner program, planned multiple statewide conventions and advocated on behalf of North Carolina’s beer & wine industry.
“I am extremely pleased to be offered this position and look forward to what I feel is a tremendous opportunity to turn the national spotlight on the booming craft brewing culture in North Carolina,” Lockhart said in a release. “The North Carolina Brewers Guild is one of the largest and fastest growing Brewers Guilds in the country. Asheville was just named ‘Beer City USA’. The Triangle is now home to 14 craft breweries with several more currently in development. North Carolina is quickly becoming recognized as a major destination for craft beer lovers across the U.S. I am proud and excited to play an important role in North Carolina’s craft beer revolution. We will have a booth at the upcoming World Beer Festival on April 9th in Raleigh’s Moore Square. Please make sure to stop by and introduce yourself.”
Lockhart was selected by the NC Brewers Guild’s executive search committee through an extensive state-wide search. She will begin her duties on April 9th.
“It’s an exciting time for the Guild,” said Jamie Bartholomaus, President of the North Carolina Brewers Guild and Owner of Foothills Brewery in Winston-Salem. “It’s a time of unprecedented growth for craft beer in our state and nationwide. We needed an Executive Director who could guide us into this exciting future and establish the Guild as one of the best in the country; we are confident that Anna is the person that can get us there.”
The North Carolina Brewers Guild is a not-for-profit 501(c)6 tax exempt organization comprised of brewers, vendors, retailers, and craft beer enthusiasts focused on promoting North Carolina beer. North Carolina boasts the largest number of craft breweries in the American South, with more than 20 brewpubs and 20 packaging breweries. It is also the most decorated state in the south with more medals from the World Beer Cup and Great American Beer Festival than any of its neighbors. The North Carolina Brewers Guild seeks to preserve and promote the beer and brewing culture of the state of Southern beer.
