Red Oak to Release a new Winter Seasonal – Black Oak

Friday, December 30th, Red Oak Brewery will be releasing a new Winter Seasonal called Black Oak ™.  Black Oak is a Doppelbock that was Brewed on Halloween and will be packed Fresh for the end of the year premier.

Black Oak is Red Oak’s second seasonal offering in six years.  The brewery took a hiatus from seasonals to focus on the new brewery and meet demand for current products.

The first jump back into seasonal beer for Red Oak was Big Oak.  2011 was the second year in a row that Big Oak was offered, released on Good Friday.  That day set the all time record for most in attendance for a public tour of the Red Oak Brewery – the previous record being held by the New Year’s Eve tour 2010.

Those in attendance of the December 30th Brewery tour will be the first to taste Black Oak.  Growlers will be available after the tour.  Black Oak will only be available in growlers and on draft and supply will be very limited.

Black Oak, like all Red Oak products is an authentically Bavarian Style Lager, brewed according to the Reinheitsgebot and will be unfiltered, unpasteurized and free of any preservatives.

Jolly Skull Beer Fest

Hi NC Beer peeps!

The Guild and I are excited to be participating in the 2012 2nd Annual Jolly Beer Fest. This festival is put on by Dustin and the Beer Army. They are dedicated to spreading the craft beer gospel across the great state of NC and place a big emphasis on showcasing local craft beers.

Below are some of the details of the fest provided by the Beer Army. I hope to see you there!

Greenville will be hosting their second annual beer festival at the Greenville Convention Center this winter on January 28, 2011. This 41,000 square foot venue is a first class, state of the art building located downtown in Greenville, North Carolina at 303 SW Greenville Blvd, Greenville, NC 27834. The festival will focus on 50+ American craft and regional micro breweries with over 130 beers being offered.

This year there will only be one tasting session with three tickets options.

The VIP ticket is $40 if purchased before 15 Jan, $50 after that date/day of the event and will give you admission from 1 – 6 PM.

The General Admission ticket is $25 if purchased before 15 Jan, $35 after that date/day of the event and will give you admission from 2:30 – 6 PM.

The VIP and GA ticket include a tasting glass, festival program, pen and unlimited sampling of all beers offered.

New for this year is the Designated Driver ticket (available online only) which is $15 and will give you admission from 2:30 – 6 PM. There will only be 500 VIP and 3000 total tickets sold. This event will sell out so get your tickets now!

We are excited to be associated with and raising money for the following charities this year:

The Museum of the Marine will bring to Jacksonville, NC a world class museum that will honor the contributions and sacrifices of Marines, their units, their families, and the Carolina communities that support them. Starting in 1941 with the establishment of Camp Lejeune and outposts throughout the Carolinas, they will showcase the many unique contributions of Carolina Marines.

We will also be raising money for the North Carolina Brewers Guild. The NCBG is a not-for-profit 501(c)6 tax exempt organization comprised of brewers, vendors, retailers, and craft beer enthusiasts focused on promoting North Carolina beer.

North Carolina boasts the largest number of craft breweries in the American South.

NCBG’s main objective is to promote NC beer — local, fresh, craft beer. They want to support the beer communities in the state and guide the craft beer aficionados by providing the one source that allows access to the breweries, brewers and their beers where ever they are served, presented, celebrated.

Check back here frequently for updates in the coming weeks.

Duck-Rabbit Brewery Needs More Brewers!

Duck-Rabbit Brewery Needs More Brewers!

The Duck-Rabbit Craft Brewery is a production brewery (a brand new tasting room has been open less than 3 months!) specializing in delicious, full-bodied dark beers. Roughly 65% of our production goes into bottles (the rest into kegs). We are located in Farmville North Carolina (a small rural town in the eastern part of the state; roughly 15 miles from the larger university town of Greenville NC). We sold our first beer in August of 2004, and now we’re brewing like demons to keep up with demand (current sales in 6 states)!  We have new tanks coming in that will nearly double our capacity.  We’re going to need some help!

We’re looking for a “brewer.” That’s in quotes because duties will definitely not be limited to brewing! At a small company like this, everyone gets involved in all kinds of work (brewing, filtering, bottling, cleaning, more cleaning, building boxes, loading trucks, working festivals, etc. etc.). The person we hire will be a member of a small team. We all have to get along and we all work very hard (hot, sweaty, dirty, long hours). It makes no sense to consider this job if you don’t have an abiding passion for beer and brewery work. Professional brewery experience or formal brewing education required.

If you think you would like to work in The Duck-Rabbit Brewery, please email a resume topaul@duckrabbitbrewery.com.

Cheers,

Paul Philippon
