The North Carolina Department of Revenue is a cabinet-level executive agency charged with administering tax laws and collecting taxes on behalf of the people of the State. The Secretary of Revenue is appointed by the Governor.
Their mission is to fund public services benefiting the people of North Carolina, we administer the tax laws and collect the taxes due in an impartial, consistent, secure, and efficient manner.
Today, the Department of Revenue is led by the Secretary, Chief Operating Officer and five Assistant Secretaries. As North Carolina grows and the needs of its citizens change, the Department of Revenue will continue its efforts to provide taxpayers with the most efficient and effective services possible.
