In 2021, the NCCBC will offer 3 Pre-Conference Workshops for additional learning opportunity on Tuesday, November 2nd. Join colleagues and experts for an opportunity to discuss important and timely topics in depth. 

Most of these Workshops cost an additional registration fee ($30-$40), and are not included in the regular NCCBC Conference registration. 

  • NCCBC conference registration is open to all breweries, regardless of Guild membership.
  • Discounted Guild member pricing is available to any brewery who is a member of their state’s Guild - contact your state’s Guild to receive the discount code.

Part I.  
Trademarks 101: Ten Tips for Brewers Just Starting Up, Rebecca Crandall, McGuire Wood & Bissette
  • An overview of trademark law directed towards brewers who are in the planning phases of their breweries as well as those brewers lucky enough not to have run into trademark problems (yet). Rebecca will provide ten tips focusing on what to do and what not to do, from selection through enforcement, as well as, provide information about exactly when you should work with an attorney.

Part II.  Building a Brewery Marketing Plan: From Strategy to Execution, Christina Kyriazi, Ekos
  • Marketing — you know it’s important, but you may not know where to start. Before you start posting on social media, planning a taproom event, or redesigning your website, you need a marketing plan. This session will cover the basics of a marketing plan and help you think through your target audience, key messages, what makes you different, and the best ways to communicate with your customers. Then, we’ll talk about which tactics can make a big impact on your path to further growth.

Part III.  So You're Starting a Brewery - What Do You Need to Know, John Szymankiewicz, Beer Law Center
  • Owning a brewery can be a lifelong dream come true - the ability to get paid to do something you love: make beer.  However, navigating the myriad of legal issues involved in starting a brewery in this highly regulated industry, can be a daunting task. Without proper planning and advice, you may end up back at square one.In this session, John will review legal compliance for start-ups, and provide some FAQ's for navigating the legal process.


Preventing Sexual Harassment in the Workplace:
9am - 12pm;  Tuesday, Nov. 2nd

  • Preventing Harassment in the Workplace, facilitated by Robert Powell, SPHR, will help to define harassing behaviors which may exist in the workplace as well as offer suggestions for the implementation of a Harassment Prevention Plan and 3rd party resources for employee reporting. This session will be highly interactive with the goal of identifying, reducing, then eliminating harassment culture which may exist in your workplace. 
Robert has over 21 years’ experience in Human Resources and currently has NC Breweries as clients. His firm, The Davidson Group HR Solutions, is a Guild sponsor and partner who are already assisting NC Breweries with Harassment Prevention resources.
